Influential ceramic artists

Professor Neil Brownsword

Professor Neil Brownsworth talks about how his work has evolved. I really enjoy his work and how the it celebrates the human form with an injection of humour that reflects the history of North Staffordshire’s ceramic industry.

Professor Brownword’s career in ceramics started at the Wedgewood factory as an apprentice . He then went into higher education graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1995.

Women’s hour craft prize winner. Prof Brownwood lives in Stoke on Trent and through his work celebrates the place and the labours of people that work in the ceramic industry. He reimagines the skills and work of ceramic workers.
